Report: Tottenham eyeing move for former Chelsea man in January

According to a report by Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham Hotspur are one of four teams interested in snapping up Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa during the January transfer window.

Costa has fallen down the pecking order at Atletico, having made only seven appearances for the club so far this season in all competitions.

His contract at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium is due to run out at the end of the season and it has been claimed that he will not be offered a new contract by the club (Football.London).

Jose Mourinho brought Costa to the Premier League in 2014 and the Spanish striker helped guide the Blues to two league titles during his time at Stamford Bridge.

The 31-year-old was linked with a move to Spurs in the summer and although the deal never materialised, some Spurs fans on social media were quite open to the idea of signing the former Chelsea man.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham are one of four clubs showing interest in snapping up Costa, with Napoli, Everton and Fenerbahce also said to be monitoring his situation.

Spurs Web Opinion

We have been linked with moves for the likes of Arkadiusz Milik, Wout Weghorst and now Costa in January, which suggests that Mourinho might not be entirely convinced by Vinicius. Despite our extremely busy schedule over the last few weeks, the Brazilian has hardly been used. So, perhaps Mourinho and his coaching staff have made up their minds that Vinicius is nothing more than a short-term option and are looking to secure a number nine for the long-term.
