Report: Tottenham star returns from World Cup with hamstring injury

According to a report from the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison has returned from the World Cup with an injury.

The Brazilian star returned to Hotspur Way yesterday ahead of schedule, and even shared a snap on his Instagram story at the training ground. Many suspected Richarlison was just eager to get back in the swing of things, but it has now emerged he was there for scans.

The 25-year-old reportedly injured his hamstring in the warm-up for Brazil’s quarter-final match against Croatia on Friday afternoon. Richarlison still managed to play 84 minutes of that game, but is now suffering for it.

Any injury is a blow, of course, but the knock-on effect of Richarlison’s impending spell on the sidelines is bad news for Harry Kane too, who will now likely be forced into action whether he likes it or not.

It was reported by the Evening Standard yesterday that Kane would be given a week off by Spurs, before jumping back into things in preparation for the Boxing Day clash with Brentford.

The report suggested Kane would be keen to get going again to put the pain of his World Cup penalty miss behind him.

But now Kane, who started all 22 of Spurs’ matches in the first half of the season (Transfermarkt), will be expected to lead the line when the season resumes and it’s currently unclear when he will be able to rest. It all depends on the extent of Richarlison’s injury, but the Brazilian ‘could face weeks out’.

Spurs Web Opinion

Hopefully, Richarlison’s injury isn’t too serious and he can get back on the pitch for Spurs as soon as possible. He had such a strong World Cup from a personal point of view, and I’m sure he would have been excited to use that momentum to take things up a notch at club level.
