It has now emerged that Richarlison rejected a move from Tottenham to Vasco da Gama despite being offered extremely favourable terms.
The Brazilian’s proposed move to Vasco da Gama collapsed last Friday despite the two clubs agreeing on a transfer fee.
That was because Richarlison only wanted to make a temporary move to the club until January, but Tottenham were already at the limit of loans allowed by FIFA.
That means that he now has to wait until January to seal a move away from North London, and Roberto De Zerbi has been critical of the striker’s behaviour through the summer.

Brazilian journalist Bruno Braz at UOL (as relayed by Sport Witness) now confirms that a loan was Richarlison’s original preference, but Vasco were ready to accommodate the player’s desire with a unique agreement.
After putting together a structure for a permanent transfer that Spurs agreed to, Vasco then tried to solve the 29-year-old’s issue. They offered Richarlison a clause that would allow him to return abroad in January, while also protecting themselves financially.
As per their proposal, the Spurs man would be allowed to leave if an overseas offer arrived in January, which would mean that Vasco did not have to pay the full amount initially agreed to Tottenham.
As per the proposal, Richarlison was set to receive around €1.9m (£1.6m), through to December, but despite this, the striker turned it down, making it clear he would only leave Spurs if his contract was terminated.
Richarlison not happy with Roberto De Zerbi
Richarlison was eligible to feature for Tottenham in the Carabao Cup against Liverpool on Tuesday despite being left out of the club’s Premier League squad.
However, in his press conference on Monday, De Zerbi confirmed that the striker would not be playing and that he is no longer part of his plans.
In response to the Tottenham boss’s comments, Richarlison took to Instagram to simply ask ‘why’. However, the answer to that appears clear, with the striker reportedly even threatening legal action against Spurs to terminate his contract.
