Savinho’s injury record should raise big concerns at Tottenham amid winger crisis

Savinho’s career injury history could leave Tottenham exposed at some point should he join them, amid £60m transfer rumours.

Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of the Manchester City winger Savinho remains ongoing as the transfer saga continues to drag on after a year.

Spurs were keen on Savinho last summer but failed to land his signature after the winger held talks with Pep Guardiola, who persuaded him to stay.

Tottenham have once again returned for Savinho this summer but are yet to put in any bids for the City man, who could cost them upwards of £50 million.

Tottenham interest in Savinho continues despite worrying injury record

However, while still a City player, Savinho continues to drop hints that he might be open to a Tottenham move.

Just on Saturday, the 22-year-old was spotted giving a thumbs up to a Spurs fan after he asked the him to come to Tottenham.

The addition of Savinho will certainly bolster Roberto De Zerbi’s forward line, which currently has several players sidelined due to injuries.

Savinho’s injury record, though, does not look encouraging, with the 22-year-old yet to enjoy an injury-free spell in the last three seasons.

Last campaign alone, the City forward was out for almost three months, missing 84 days of action due to thigh problems.

In 2024/25 he missed 18 days due to a knee problem, while in 2022/23 he missed 60 days because of a hamstring issue.

Why Savinho could be a major risk for Spurs’ winger depth

It does seem like a big risk for Tottenham to sign Savinho out on the wings given the injury record of their current wide players.

Kudus is currently out due to a hamstring problem and spent 196 days sidelined last season, while Dejan Kulusevski is very close to a Tottenham return.

Meanwhile, on the left, Wilson Odobert is out with an ACL injury alongside Xavi Simons. With Savinho’s injury record, Spurs could well find themselves in a position where all of their wingers are out with knocks.
