Dejan Kulusevski has finally taken another major step towards returning to competitive football after more than a year on the sidelines, with the Tottenham midfielder now back in full team training.

Dejan Kulusevski has not played a game of football since May 2025 after suffering a complicated knee injury, and Tottenham have certainly felt the Swede’s absence in attack over the past year.

There was a major boost earlier this month when the Sweden international returned to individual training before joining full training last week, as seen in footage released from Hotspur Way. His return now appears to be getting closer.

Roberto De Zerbi revealed on Friday that he was delighted to have Kulusevski back and would include him in Tottenham’s squad list after the midfielder had been working ‘very hard’.

The 26-year-old has now provided an even bigger update himself.

Dejan Kulusevski confirms his return to full Tottenham training

Kulusevski gave Tottenham fans a teaser at the weekend when he posted a picture following training with the caption, “when they say no, we say yes”.

However, his latest post is much less cryptic, with the Swedish midfielder posting a picture of himself with his daughter beside a cake topped with the number 477, marking the number of days since he last trained fully with his teammates.

He captioned the post: “After 477 days I came back to full team training. Everything is impossible until it is not. Want to see a miracle. Be one. See u soon.”

Dejan Kulusevski’s wife shares heartfelt message

The other slide of the post was a heartfelt letter written by his wife, looking back on everything Kulusevski has been through over the last 477 days. Translated from Swedish, it read:

They said that you might never play again. But they obviously don’t know who you are. For 477 days, you have fought your way through pain, doubt, operations and countless hours of training and rehabilitation.

Today, you made your way back to where you belong. Not because it was easy, but because you refused to give up. You have inspired us with your strength, your patience and your heart, and this is a story I will tell our daughters many times over.

I will tell them about how their dad kept going without any guarantees. I will tell them about when nobody was watching, when nobody was applauding and when nobody could promise him that it would be worth it. I will tell them about how their dad went through operations, pain and setbacks, how he doubted himself and fell, but got back up. Every. Single. Time.

I will tell them about how their dad was told that he might never play football again, and yet he refused to let anyone else write the ending to his story. I will tell them about how their dad showed us that strength is perhaps not about never breaking down. It is about finding a reason to keep going, even when you do.

And one day, when life tests our daughters, I will tell them about these 477 days. So that they never forget the blood that runs through their veins.

Tonight, we are not just celebrating a training session. We are celebrating proof that perseverance, courage and love can overcome what once seemed impossible. 477 days did not end your football journey. They became a chapter that showed the world what you are made of.

You fell, you fought, you got back up, and today you stood there again, stronger than ever. We are so incredibly proud of you.

Your comeback is more than a return to the pitch. It is a tribute to your will, your heart and the person you are. When the final whistle blows, the journey is not over. It is only the beginning of what you can achieve.
