‘So happy’ – Spurs reunion as Pochettino sends a touching message to Dele Alli

There was a touching moment on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football yesterday, as Mauricio Pochettino sent a heartfelt message to Dele Alli, who was a special guest in the Sky studio.

It was under Pochettino that Dele broke through and hit the limelight at White Hart Lane following his arrival from MK Dons as a teenager back in 2015.

The attacking midfielder took the Premier League by storm over the next few years and was talked about as one of the best players in the world, being one of the first names in England’s teamsheet at the time.

However, following Pochetitno’s departure from Spurs, the midfielder’s career has gone downhill, with the 27-year-old admitting in his interview on The Overlap last summer that he had even become addicted to sleeping tablets and drinking to ‘escape from reality’.

In the same interview, Dele also touched on the special relationship he had with Pochettino, admitting that it was a lot deeper than just a footballer-manager one.

The Argentine got a chance to address the Everton star on air yesterday and he had a touching message for him.

Pochettino said: “Good evening, I knew you were with him because I was watching in my manager’s room and your interview with Dele. Look, I need to talk now. I cannot see you now but I want to say hello to Dele. What a player, oh my goodness. So happy to see you there.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While a lot of Spurs fans have seemingly turned on Pochettino after his decision to move to Chelsea, I still adore the Argentine because of things like this. He is such a warm person and human being and one can tell that he has genuine affection for his players.
