Some Spurs fans on social media were left extremely impressed by Marcel Sabitzer’s display in Austria’s 3-1 win over North Macedonia on Sunday.
Although Sabitzer did not get on the scoresheet for Austria, he put in an all-action display in midfield and set up his side’s opening goal with a lovely cross into the box.
The RB Leipzig star, who has just 12 months left to run on his contract, was heavily linked with a move to Spurs during the January transfer window and the North Londoners are reportedly laying the groundwork to pull of a potential deal for him this summer.
Even Alasdair Gold has backed Tottenham to compete for the 27-year-old’s signature this transfer window.
The Athletic reported last week that Leipzig could sell the versatile midfielder for a cut-price fee of around €17.5m (£15m) due to his contract situation.
Some Spurs fans believe that if Sabitzer is indeed available for such a price, it would be a no brainer for the club to snap him up.
Here’s how they reacted after watching the Leipzig man help his nation to make a winning start to their European Championship campaign:
Sabitzer masterclass? You know what to do @SpursOfficial

Get Sabitzer to Tottenham ASAP please Paratici. Incredible player and exactly what we need out of a midfielder

What a goal. Please Paratici get Sabitzer in.

Sabitzer the absolute standout so far in this Austria game. A cut price De Bruyne. Paratici should be promising the earth to that lad. Exactly what Spurs need

On Sabitzer watch again, 15m would honestly be an amazing deal for him😍😍😍😍

If Sabitzer is really only £15m, then #thfc should be all over that.

Spurs Web Opinion
Following Dele Alli’s drop off, we have lacked goals from midfield and Sabitzer will certainly help remedy that and the fact that he is available on a cut-price deal makes him an attractive option. However, it remains to be seen if the Austrian is still high on our wishlist as our priority targets could well have changed after Fabio Paratici’s arrival.
