Supercomputer gives Tottenham relegation survival hope with West Ham prediction

Tottenham Hotspur could see their Premier League survival hopes receive a significant mathematical boost this weekend as data experts predict a difficult afternoon for their closest relegation rivals.

Tottenham Hotspur are set to continue their quest to beat the drop to the Championship this season when they take to the field on Sunday night at Villa Park.

Spurs find themselves in the bottom three of the Premier League table with four games left to play and know they must get results on the board if they are to leapfrog West Ham United and move out of the relegation places.

However, the Hammers are in strong form and have managed to stay above the dotted line in recent weeks, maintaining a two-point lead over Tottenham after a late winner against Everton last time out.

Tottenham handed boost as supercomputer predicts West Ham vs Brentford result

This weekend, West Ham United is set to take on Brentford away at the Gtech Community Stadium. The Bees sit ninth in the table and are pushing for European qualification, with both sixth place and seventh place still up for grabs for Keith Andrews’ side.

Victory over West Ham will definitely boost Brentford’s chances of a European run next season, and Opta’s supercomputer has now predicted the likelihood of that outcome.

According to the numbers, Brentford have a 54.4 per cent chance of beating the Hammers, while Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been given a 22.2 per cent chance of winning.

If West Ham loses and Tottenham win, then Roberto De Zerbi’s side could end the gameweek outside the relegation zone, sitting a point above the Hammers, who would drop to 18th.

Spurs must capitalise on potential West Ham slip

Of course, if results play out that way this gameweek, it will be a significant boost for Spurs and their survival hopes.

However, Tottenham must make it count by beating Aston Villa at Villa Park if they are to capitalise on any slip-ups from West Ham.

Roberto De Zerbi’s men face a tough test against a Villa side chasing a Champions League finish, although their position is not under immediate threat as they remain eight points clear of Brighton in sixth.

That in itself should serve as a big advantage for Tottenham heading into their clash with Aston Villa this weekend.

Unai Emery’s side also has a Europa League fixture before facing Tottenham, which again could work in Spurs’ favour, while Tottenham’s strong record at Villa Park suggests a positive result in Birmingham is possible.
