Supercomputer reveals worrying prediction after Tottenham lose to Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur have fallen several places in Opta’s supercomputer-predicted Premier League table, and Spurs fans will be extremely concerned about the latest prediction.

Spurs desperately needed a win against Aston Villa at home in the lead-up to the international break, but instead, they fell to their third defeat of the campaign in five matches.

Fulham’s draw with Man United the next day means that Tottenham will now spend the three-week international break rooted to the bottom of the table.

It is not a situation that many would have foreseen at the start of the campaign, and one predictive algorithm suggests that it may be another extremely painful season for the Lilywhites.

Opta’s Supercomputer predicts Tottenham will finish in the bottom three

Following their first four matches of the season, Opta predicted that Tottenham will finish in 15th place with an expected 45.8 points.

That represented a significant drop from where the supercomputer expected Spurs to finish at the start of the campaign, and the Lilywhites have now dropped three places again in the predicted table following their latest result.

After going down 3-2 at home to Villa, Opta now say that Spurs are on course to finish in 18th place, one place lower than the last two campaigns, with an expected 43.09 points.

The prediction will cause alarm bells to ring at Hotspur Way after a summer of big spending.

The extended international break could be a blessing for Spurs

While it is far from ideal to spend the next three weeks at the bottom of the table, one can argue that Tottenham and Roberto De Zerbi needed this three-week mental reset.

They could start afresh after the break, and De Zerbi needs to get across the message that Spurs’ season starts on October 10.

Despite the terrible results so far this campaign, there have been very clear positive signs in the performances, especially in possession, which suggests that Tottenham can string wins together once they click as a side.
