Thomas Frank reveals three things he likes about Radu Dragusin, and Tottenham need him now

Thomas Frank has now revealed whether Radu Dragusin is ready to start several games for Tottenham following Cristian Romero’s suspension and Kevin Danso’s injury worries.

Tottenham Hotspur are short of defensive options at the moment, with Cristian Romero suspended and Kevin Danso injured.

This leaves Thomas Frank with pretty much Radu Dragusin and Micky van de Ven as his main centre-back pairing at the moment.

Of course, Joao Palhinha remains an option given his versatility, but there is a need for the Portuguese to fill in midfield, given the lack of options in that area of the pitch as well.

Tottenham boss Thomas Frank assesses Radu Dragusin readiness

Dragusin is only just recovering from an ACL injury and has managed just 154 minutes since his return earlier in the year.

With Romero now suspended for the next four games and Danso nursing an injury, with his return unknown, the Romanian is set to start several games for Tottenham.

Thomas Frank has now opened up on the centre-back’s physical condition and defensive qualities, speaking to football.london about whether he is ready to handle multiple fixtures in a short period.

“I think he has done great to come back, he has looked good the two games he has played and he looks strong and I like that. I think as a defender he is very good.

“He is alert. His movement, the way he anticipates the different situations, the way he tries to do the principles I really like that and he is really competitive in every aspect. He is fine, he is strong and he is ready to go again tomorrow.”

Spurs will rely heavily on Dragusin amid defensive shortage

Dragusin has completed ninety minutes of football just once since his return from injury.

That came against Manchester City and, unfortunately, it was a mixed bag of a performance, as the Romanian was solid in the second half but put in a first-half display to forget.

However, with Spurs currently in a relegation fight, it is absolutely vital that the centre-back gets up to speed quickly, as the margin for error is slim.
