Tottenham will have played back‑to‑back home games in the Premier League by the time they take to the field this weekend against Aston Villa, but the wait for another home fixture is a long one – and we’ve highlighted three reasons why.

Spurs have played at home at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium twice already this season in the Premier League.

However, they have not tasted victory on their home turf yet, after suffering a 2-0 defeat against Newcastle United in matchweek 2 and a 0-0 draw against Everton on home soil in matchweek 4.

Up next at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a clash against Aston Villa, where Tottenham will be hoping to get a victory to kickstart their Premier League campaign.

So far this season, Spurs have yet to win or score in the league, a poor run that has them in 17th place on the Premier League table.

But after back-to-back home matches, Tottenham are expected to go almost a month without playing at their home stadium, and Spurs Web has highlighted three reasons why.

International break means three weeks without Tottenham

One reason Tottenham fans will have to wait almost a month before cheering their team on at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the upcoming international break.

After the matchweek‑five fixture at home to Aston Villa, club football is set to pause for around three weeks.

The hope though will be that Tottenham secure a home victory against Villa this weekend to give fans something to cheer about while they wait for club football to return.

Tottenham’s first fixture back is away to Man United

Another reason for the long wait for a home game is because Spurs’ first match after the end of the international break is an away fixture.

It is very rare for a side in the Premier League to play three home league games in a row, which is why Spurs are set to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford following the international break.

Spurs will have to wait a little longer before playing in front of their home fans.

Spurs have no European fixture on the returning week

A third reason for the long wait is Tottenham’s absence from Europe. Spurs finished last season in 17th place, a league position that does not guarantee European football.

Because of this absence, Tottenham have no midweek games following their clash against United.

Had they been in Europe, there is a chance a home European game would have been scheduled a few days after the away outing at Manchester United.

As such, Spurs’ wait to take to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium field will reach the exact one‑month mark when they finally play at home against Coventry on October 19.
