Spurs Web has relayed a number of reports over recent weeks stating that Tottenham are looking to appoint Piero Ausilio after he parted ways with Inter Milan.
Tottenham sources deny Piero Ausilio’s impending arrival
Over recent days, some sources from Italy have even claimed that Ausilio is in advanced talks with Spurs, and is expected to be appointed by Christmas time.
However, this has now been refuted by journalist Tom Barclay, who revealed that his sources at Tottenham have said otherwise.
Barclay wrote on X: “Spurs sources are very much refuting suggestions in Italy that they have offered ex-Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio the SD role.”
Ausilio has a good relationship with Roberto De Zerbi
Some recent updates from Italy have even asserted that De Zerbi considers Ausilio a close personal friend, while some sources have suggested that the Tottenham boss has already greenlit the 54-year-old’s appointment.
In fact, last week, TuttoMercatoWeb revealed that Ausilio had tried to appoint De Zerbi as Inter’s head coach in the past.
It thus appears that the pair’s mutual admiration is the main reason for the speculation linking the experienced Italian director with Spurs.
