Tottenham’s newest centre-back addition, Tosin Adarabioyo, has now opened up on why he decided to sign for the Lilywhites this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur were forced into the transfer market on deadline day in search of a new centre‑back following the departure of Kevin Danso.
The Austrian, who is seeking more game time, requested to leave Spurs in the final days of the summer, according to Roberto De Zerbi.
Following that request, Danso secured a loan move to Sunderland, who also hold a £25 million obligation to buy the centre‑back. Tottenham have since moved quickly to secure a replacement before the window closed.
Tosin Adarabioyo opens up for the first time after Tottenham move
In a bid to replace the Austrian, Spurs have now landed Chelsea centre‑back Tosin Adarabioyo on a permanent deal.
After completing his medical, the 28‑year‑old finalised his £7 million move to north London, which includes undisclosed add‑ons.
With the transfer completed, Tosin has now revealed why he decided to join Tottenham when speaking to the club’s official channel.
Tosin said: “I’m in an important part of my career and speaking to the Head Coach and knowing the type of football he wants to play, I think it’s a very good fit. He wants the team to play with courage and that’s something that I always look to do.
“I want to achieve the absolute best, to push this team and this club as much as possible to where we deserve to be.
“That’s something that has to be done every single day, especially on the training pitch, and I will be bringing that mentality to the Club.”
What Tosin Adarabioyo offers Spurs
Tosin certainly comes in with a wealth of experience after playing in the Premier League across the last five seasons.
He is also no stranger to representing London clubs, with spells at Fulham and Chelsea on his CV after coming through the ranks at Manchester City.
The centre‑back is sure to add much‑needed experience at the back for Spurs while also giving De Zerbi a right‑footed option who can step in for new signing Jan Paul van Hecke should the Italian look to rotate his squad.
