Tottenham battling Chelsea for Kerim Alajbegovic
Journalist Nicolo Schira has now revealed that Spurs and their London rivals, Chelsea, have both made contact with the representatives of Kerim Alajbegovic.
The teenager scored 13 goals and provided four assists for the Austrian side last season, and Bayer Leverkusen exercised the option to buy him back this summer.
The Bosnian international impressed at the World Cup this summer, scoring an exquisite long-range goal in their 3-1 win over Qatar.
Leverkusen are willing to move the player on for a profit and are demanding €30m (£26m) for him from the Premier League duo.
Serie A club have agreement in place with Alajbegovic
The two London clubs face competition for the pacy winger from Atalanta, who have done some groundwork on the deal.
In fact, Atalanta have already agreed personal terms with Alajbegovic, but they are yet to strike an agreement with Leverkusen, with the Serie A side’s €26m (£22m) offer turned down by the German club.
Schira wrote on X: “Chelsea and Tottenham have approached Kerim Alajbegovic’s agents in the next days to explore a possible deal. Bayer Leverkusen ask 30M to sell the winger, while Atalanta have an agreement with the player, but their last bid (26M) has been rejected by Leverkusen.”
