Tottenham and Manchester City have both missed out on an attacker with 31 goals and assists last season, as Savinho rumours continue.

Tottenham Hotspur are in the transfer market for forward options after securing multiple marquee midfield additions – namely, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.

The transfer war chest has been opened, and there is a clear desire to spend from the Lewis Family, which could lead to even more additions in attack this summer.

Several players are linked with a move to Tottenham, with Savinho, Kroupi, Leao and Gakpo all standing out as options for the Lilywhites.

Tottenham wanted Francisco Trincao from Sporting Lisbon

Spurs’ interest in Savinho is not entirely new, with the Lilywhites keen on landing him since last summer. This transfer window, Savinho remains a top priority.

However, reports from Record stated last week that Spurs had eyes for Sporting man Francisco Trincao.

Tottenham believed the Portuguese star could offer competition for Mohammed Kudus on the right, and even in central attacking midfield, with Simons out after picking up an ACL injury last season.

The 26‑year‑old managed an impressive 31 goal involvements from 54 appearances, including four goals and three assists in 11 Champions League matches last season.

Manchester City were also in the race to sign Trincao. City’s interest stemmed from the fact that Savinho could leave this summer, possibly even to Tottenham Hotspur themselves.

Spurs and Man City lose out to Saudi side in Trincao pursuit

Unfortunately, despite interest from the two Premier League giants, it appears Trincao will be playing his football in Saudi Arabia next season.

Sporting were said to be open to a deal worth around €50 million (£42.1 million), and Saudi side Al Ahli were prepared to meet that valuation, even quadrupling the player’s current €2.5 million net annual salary.

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Al Ahli have indeed reached an agreement for the Portuguese attacker, paying Sporting £38.4m up front as a fixed fee, as well as £4.3m in add-ons.

He wrote: ‘Francisco Trincão to Al Ahli, here we go! Exclusive story confirmed and deal in place. Paperwork being exchanged with Sporting after sorting $45m fixed fee and $5m add-ons for Portuguese winger. Al Ahli have their replacement for Riyadh Mahrez.’
