Tottenham Hotspur are among the front-runners in the race for highly-rated midfielder Nathan de Cat, who is generating huge interest across Europe.

Reports indicate that Tottenham are eyeing major additions to their central midfield ranks this summer, and we have seen the club make some ambitious approaches over the last week.

There has been plenty written about Spurs’ audacious pursuit of Sandro Tonali, but the Newcastle star is not the only midfielder on the Lilywhites’ radar.

It now appears that Roberto De Zerbi’s men have stepped up their pursuit of a teenage number six who they have been keeping a close eye on over the last few months.

Tottenham make contact over deal for Anderlecht’s Nathan De Cat

At the start of the summer, it was reported that Spurs view Nathan De Cat as the ideal profile for their midfield after the 17-year-old burst onto the scene with Anderlecht last term.

TEAMtalk have now revealed that the youngster is generating a lot of interest around the continent after establishing himself as a lynchpin in the Anderlecht midfield and winning a senior cap for Belgium.

With De Cat’s contract running into its final year, the Belgian club are under pressure to cash in on their midfield starlet.

It is revealed that they would consider offers in the region of €40m (£34.7m) for their academy graduate, which would be a club-record fee.

De Cat is said to be the subject of ‘intense interest’ from the Premier League, with Tottenham among ‘his most active suitors’.

De Zerbi’s men have scouted the midfielder extensively and have even made contact with Anderlecht to understand the conditions of the deal for the player, who Spurs see as a long-term deep-lying playmaker.

Spurs face competition from PL rivals and German clubs for De Cat

TEAMtalk reveal that Man United are the other English club to have made enquiries over De Cat, while Manchester City and Chelsea have both conducted background checks on him.

Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are keen on the Anderlecht starlet, with both clubs being fans of the player’s physical presence and tactical intelligence.

Additionally, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig, and VfB Stuttgart are all continuing to monitor De Cat, with the three clubs viewing the teenager as an ‘ideal fit’ for their high-pressing, development-focused systems.
