Reports indicate that Tottenham are now pushing to finalise a deal for Jan Paul van Hecke, having already agreed personal terms with the Brighton centre-back.

Spurs are also advancing talks over a £60m deal for Savinho, and it has now emerged that the Lilywhites are working to reinforce another key area.

Fabrizio Romano reveals Tottenham want major midfield signing in next weeks

Just a few days ago, Romano revealed that Spurs are one of several Premier League clubs looking to add quality to theier midfield this summer.

The Italian journalist has now reiterated that strengthening the middle of the park is a priority for the Lilywhites, adding that De Zerbi’s men are set to do ‘something important’ in midfield over the next few weeks.

Romano said on his YouTube channel: “What I can tell you is Tottenham want to do something important in midfield. They are working on that position, and they will be busy with several other things in the next few weeks of the window.”

Spurs facing uncertainty of Joao Palhinha

De Zerbi has publicly declared his intention to keep Palhinha at Spurs, but the Lilywhites face uncertainty over the 30-year-old.

The Portugal international is contemplating a return to Sporting Lisbon or Tottenham after both clubs expressed interest in his services.

Spurs’ £26m purchase option for Palhinha has now expired, and their plan for their midfield department is likely to be influenced by what the former Fulham man decides over the coming days and weeks.
