Tottenham are closing in on a new deal with Dutchman Micky van de Ven, having only just renewed Pedro Porro’s contract.
Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Micky van de Ven is yet to feature for Spurs this pre-season despite being part of the squad that toured Australia and New Zealand.
No injury has been reported, but there is every reason to believe that Roberto De Zerbi is keen to manage the Dutchman’s fitness in a bid to avoid him picking up any unnecessary injuries.
Van de Ven remains a vital part of the Tottenham squad given his ability on the ball and his blistering pace.
Tottenham close in on Micky van de Ven contract agreement
There is no denying that keeping the centre-back at Hotspur Way will be one of Tottenham’s priorities.
Last season, there were talks of Van de Ven potentially signing a new deal, but nothing came to fruition at the time.
The centre-back gave his all while managing what was an almost injury-free campaign, and he also wore the captain’s armband on a couple of occasions.
Tottenham insider szyexcl has now taken to X to reveal that Spurs and Van de Ven are closing in on a new contract.
He tweeted: “Micky Van de Ven is close to agreeing a new long-term #thfc contract.”
Spurs set to reward Van de Ven with improved deal
A contract renewal will certainly see Van de Ven receive a significant pay rise at Spurs. At present, the Dutchman takes home £90,000 per week.
A new deal, however, could take Van de Ven closer to £200,000 per week as he remains one of the Lilywhites’ key players.
Spurs showed a willingness to offer competitive wages when they broke their wage structure and handed new signing Sandro Tonali £250,000 per week.

Van de Ven is not short of suitors either, as it was reported earlier this year that the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool were interested in the pacy centre-back.
