Tottenham confident about winning the race for Angel Gomes free transfer

Tottenham Hotspur are pushing to land a long-term target on a free transfer, and the club believe their European pedigree might just give them the edge.

Tottenham Hotspur have been monitoring Angel Gomes for quite some time, with the 24-year-old set to become a free agent in the coming weeks.

Reports have placed Spurs as frontrunners to land Gomes, with various outlets suggesting Spurs are confident of winning the race for Lille man’s signature.

Gomes himself has handed Tottenham a timely boost after confirming on social media that he will not be extending his stay at Lille, instead exploring new options as his contract runs down.

Tottenham confident of free transfer move for Angel Gomes

GIVEMESPORT are now reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are confident of securing the services of the English midfielder this summer.

However, it has been stated that Daniel Levy and his recruitment team will need to remain patient, with Gomes still weighing up his next move before making a final decision.

Having secured UEFA Champions League football following their recent UEFA Europa League final victory, Spurs believe their return to Europe’s premier competition significantly strengthens their case to land the soon-to-be free agent.

The Lilywhites will now need to play the waiting game, hopeful that the groundwork already laid will be enough to convince Angel Gomes to make the move to Hotspur Way.

Spurs face competition from Marseille and Premier League rivals

Tottenham are not alone in their pursuit of the Lille midfielder, with Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Everton all reportedly keen on Angel Gomes this summer.

However, GIVEMESPORT have stated that French outfit Marseille may prove to be Tottenham’s most serious competitors in the race for the former Manchester United man’s signature.

It is believed Roberto De Zerbi’s side has tabled a strong proposal in a late effort to convince Gomes to remain in France rather than return to the Premier League.
