Tottenham could be saved by third Serie A club after Guglielmo Vicario transfers fall flat

Fresh claims emerging from Italy have once again placed Guglielmo Vicario’s future under the spotlight, with another Serie A side now reportedly weighing up a move for the Tottenham goalkeeper amid growing uncertainty over his long-term future in north London.

It does look like Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s future could lie elsewhere, given the latest reports.

The Italian shot-stopper has been attracting interest from clubs in Italy, including Inter Milan and Juventus.

Spurs Web reported earlier this month that Juventus were weighing up a move for either Vicario or Emiliano Martinez as they look to sign a goalkeeper.

Inter Milan, on the other hand, had been tipped as favourites to secure Vicario’s signature for most of the last couple of months, although those reports have since gone quiet.

Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario linked with Napoli transfer

A new report from Area Napoli now states that Napoli has entered the race for Vicario during the summer transfer window.

It is understood that the Tottenham number one is highly regarded by those at Napoli and that a deal could happen, although it would hinge on Alex Meret leaving this summer.

Vicario’s wages are deemed to be high as he currently earns nearly £2.1m (€2.5m) a year at Spurs, plus more than £510,000 (€600,000) in bonuses.

That is the same as Meret earns in Naples, which is why he would need to leave before a move for the Tottenham man becomes possible.

In our previous report regarding Juventus’ interest, Vicario’s wages were also mentioned in comparison to Martinez, who is on considerably less.

Spurs transfer talk grows after rooftop meeting claim

Nevertheless, the report included additional interesting details, with the publication relaying claims of a potential meeting between Vicario and Giovanni Manna.

This, however, was neither confirmed nor denied by the outlet, which simply repeated what was said by a caller during a show on Radio Marte.

The listener claimed: “Yesterday Giovanni Manna met Vicario in the city. They were together at the ‘Riserva Rooftop di Posillipo,’ a well-known restaurant frequented by players and executives of the Neapolitan club.”

Spurs do look keen to sell Vicario, but their efforts so far have fallen short.
