Inter Milan have made a big decision regarding their pursuit of Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario ahead of the summer window.

It has been suggested that the Tottenham goalkeeper is keen to return to the Serie A, three years on from his switch from Empoli to North London.

It has been widely reported that Inter have agreed personal terms with Vicario ahead of his possible summer switch to the San Siro.

However, over recent weeks, some outlets have claimed that there remains a distance between Inter’s and Spurs’ valuations of the 29-year-old, and the Serie A club have now made a big decision ahead of the summer.

Inter Milan not expected to bid for Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario

TuttoSport have now claimed manager Cristian Chive has decided to make Josep Martinez his number one going forward.

The Inter boss has been impressed by Martinez’s application and attitude since the turn of the year, and he has indicated to the management that the Spaniard is ready to be the club’s first choice next season.

As a result, the Nerazzurri are no longer willing to pay the €20m (£17.3m) they need to land the Italy international from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Serie A club have instead decided to spend the money to reinforce other areas of the pitch, and will prioritise signing a backup to Martinez rather than pushing ahead with a move for Vicario.

Roberto De Zerbi may have just sent a big sign on Vicairo’s future

De Zerbi had confirmed that Vicario is available for selection against Chelsea after the experienced goalkeeper returned to training a few days ago.

However, the Tottenham boss chose to keep Antonin Kinsky in his team, rewarding the 23-year-old for his impressive form over recent weeks.

That may be a clear sign that De Zerbi is prepared to move past the 29-year-old as he puts his imprint on the Spurs squad ahead of his first full season in charge.
