With the season officially over, an inquiry has begun into how Tottenham came so perilously close to being relegated from the Premier League.

The Lewis family has already promised Spurs fans that there would be investment into many areas of the club and that work is underway to get the Lilywhites back up to where they belong.

It has now been revealed what first steps have been taken at Tottenham to find out why things went so wrong.

Tottenham performance director Dan Lewindon has begun a major investigation

Dan Lewindon was confirmed as Spurs’ new performance director back in October of last year, and it has now been revealed he has already started work to get to the root of the Lilywhites’ issues.

According to Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, Lewindon is spearheading ‘a major internal investigation’ and is expected to oversee significant changes needed at the club.

The Tottenham performance director, who was previously with the City Group, has a background in performance, science and medicine across the top levels of football, tennis and rugby.

Spurs believe that he is the man to finally find a solution to their constant injury woes over the last two years.

Roberto De Zerbi has impressed the medical staff at Spurs

Football.London reveal that De Zerbi has struck up a very good relationship with Lewindon and that the pair frequently chat about the improvements needed in the club’s performance and medical departments.

It is explained that De Zerbi has impressed many in Tottenham’s medical department with his clear and consistent approach.

Even though he was under immense pressure to get results, the Italian avoided taking unnecessary risks with any players and has been keen to get as much feedback as possible to make the right decisions in bringing players back into the fold.
