Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs chasing one of the most experienced sporting directors in Europe, who just left his post with Inter Milan.
Johan Lange was the sole sporting director at Spurs through the summer window, which is not something many fans may have expected a few months ago.
According to reports, Tottenham’s director of football operations Rafi Moersen also played a key role in the club’s summer business, alongside Lange and CEO Vinai Venkatesham.
However, from the outside, it appeared that Roberto De Zerbi was the one who was steering the ship, with the Italian seemingly getting a lot of his top targets.

Tottenham contact Piero Ausilio after Inter Milan exit
Gianluca Di Marzio has now revealed that Piero Ausilio will exit his role as Inter Milan’s sporting director after spending 28 years at the club.
Di Marzio revealed that Ausilio has decided that he will not be renewing his contract with the Nerazzurri, with the experienced Italian already receiving a couple of enquiries.
One of those has come from Tottenham, who are looking to appoint a new sporting director who may be expected to work alongside Lange.
The journalist adds that Ausilio will make a decision ‘soon’ on his next destination, as the 58-year-old seeks to start a new chapter in his career.
Roberto De Zerbi is likely to have a big say regarding the next Spurs director
De Zerbi has said that his connection with the Spurs board is the best one he has had across his managerial career, making it clear that all decisions were made together with Venkatesham and Lange.
The Tottenham boss has also spoken about his good relationship with the club’s owners, speaking highly of the Lewis family’s ambitions.
It is clear that the club have given the keys to De Zerbi to build a long-term project, and he is thus likely to have a big say on who the next sporting director is.
