Tottenham are set to appoint Sebastian Kehl as their new sporting director, but the deal hinges on their Premier League status.
Whatever planning Tottenham Hotspur are looking to do for next season depends entirely on how this current campaign ends.
Should Tottenham secure their top-flight status, then finances, transfers and the future of their current players could look a lot more positive heading into 2026/27.
However, relegation could lead to further restructuring at a club that is still finding its feet after wholesale boardroom changes.

Tottenham expected to appoint Sebastian Kehl as sporting director
Daniel Levy’s departure earlier this season was one of the biggest changes at the north London club in quite some time.
Amidst that, there have also been further changes affecting on-field decisions, with Fabio Paratici appointed as sporting director last year, only for him to depart for Fiorentina in February.
Spurs have since been on the lookout for a replacement for Paratici. Spurs Web previously named several sporting director options on Tottenham’s radar, including Sebastian Kehl, Paul Winstanley and Dougie Freedman of Al-Diriyah, with the latter two enjoying successful spells in the Premier League.
According to Sky Sports, Sebastian Kehl is now expected to join Tottenham as the new sporting director if Spurs’ Premier League safety is confirmed.
Kehl has been out of work following his departure from Borussia Dortmund and has been on Spurs’ radar for some time now.
Tottenham face defining Everton clash
Tottenham must now take to the field against Everton in what is one of the biggest games in their recent history.
Beating the Toffees, or even securing a draw, will be enough for Spurs to confirm their Premier League status for next season and send West Ham United down.
It will certainly be a nervy occasion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, but based on Spurs’ record against Everton in N17, there is cautious reason for optimism that the Lilywhites could yet come through it safely.
