Tottenham Hotspur are now turning their attention to a Ligue 1 starlet, but they are set to be challenged by two other clubs in the race for the player.

Spurs have evidently prioritised reinforcing their backline at the start of the current window, having already bought Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson through the door as free agents.

Tottenham are now working on a deal to bring Jan Paul van Hecke to N17, with the Brighton star thought to have already agreed personal terms with the Lilywhites.

However, it has now been revealed that the Dutchman may not be the club’s final defensive addition of the summer.

Tottenham in three-horse race to land Ismaelo Ganiou

SportsBoom say that Spurs have now turned their attention to Lens starlet Ismaelo Ganiou, who has had a very impressive season at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis following his switch from Padova last summer.

The 21-year-old’s impressive form in France last season has caught the attention of Roberto De Zerbi’s side, who see the youngster as someone who could address their immediate need and be part of the club’s future planning.

Tottenham have held talks with Lens for Ganiou but so have Crystal Palace and Paris Saint-Germain, who are also big fans of the centre-back.

The French club are demanding a fee of around €35-€40m (£30.2m-£34.5m), and they have no intention of relaxing their stance for a player who they believe has a very high ceiling.

Crystal Palace may have upperhand over Spurs in race for Ganiou

Sports Boom say that Crystal Palace may soon hold ‘the most intriguing card’ in the race to land the Burkina Faso international.

The Eagles are keen on appointing Lens boss Pierre Sage as their new head coach, which could help them accelerate a move for Ganiou, who could be tempted to reunite with a manager he knows well.

However, the outlet confirms that despite holding talks, none of the three interested clubs has submitted a concrete offer for the centre-back so far.
