Fabrizio Romano has now provided the latest update as Tottenham Hotspur continue their efforts to finalise a deal with Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke.

Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on adding depth to their defence despite securing the services of Marcos Senesi.

Still, reports relayed over recent weeks have linked Tottenham with Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke as they look to bolster their backline even further.

Spurs’ interest has already resulted in two bids for the Dutchman, both of which were rejected by the Seagulls.

Tottenham continue talks for Jan Paul van Hecke transfer

Spurs Web has since reported that a third offer for Jan Paul van Hecke is now being prepared. The proposal is expected to be in the region of £50m, although that still falls short of Brighton’s reported £70m valuation.

However, the expectation is that Tottenham’s third offer will be accepted by Brighton. Respected transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has now shared what he knows regarding the situation.

He explains that negotiations between Tottenham and Brighton are continuing, and the Italian journalist also reiterated what had already been reported, stating that Spurs have agreed personal terms with van Hecke.

His post read: “Negotiations for Jan Paul Van Hecke to Tottenham continue after personal terms agreed days ago. Spurs are pushing to get it done.”

Spurs risk losing Luka Vuskovic amid Brighton interest

While Tottenham continue to push for van Hecke, they also run the risk of losing one of their own highly rated centre-backs.

Spurs Web reported earlier this week that Luka Vuskovic is attracting interest from Brighton, who have already submitted a bid of their own.

It was also explained that personal terms have been agreed with Vuskovic, although several other reports have since claimed that Spurs are unwilling to part ways with the defender, with a final decision expected after the World Cup.
