Tottenham Hotspur supporters have reacted to the latest reports on Joao Palhinha’s future this summer transfer window.
Joao Palhinha was one of the reasons Tottenham Hotspur stayed up, with the midfielder delivering several impressive performances during the Premier League run-in.
Seven goals in all competitions for Spurs made him the joint second top scorer during last season’s campaign, a goalscoring return that saw him score two goals in the run-in.
Palhinha’s late strike against Wolves helped the Lilywhites secure their first win under Roberto De Zerbi and their first win after a four-month winless domestic run in 2026.
He then capped it off by scoring the all-important goal against Everton on the final day, helping Tottenham secure their Premier League status.

Tottenham fans react as Joao Palhinha exit looms
Palhinha is on loan and looks set to return to Bayern Munich unless Spurs activate their £26m option-to-buy clause. However, that appears unlikely, with the clause set to expire tomorrow.
Sporting Lisbon were said to be leading the race to land Palhinha, and Tottenham were even said to have pulled out of the race for the 30-year-old.
However, Fabrizio Romano delivered a plot twist on Monday evening, revealing that Palhinha will give priority to Tottenham because he wants to play under De Zerbi. Spurs fans have now taken to social media to react.
One fan said, “Club never learns, a nothing player who wins a few tackles, be back in a relegation battle in no time.” Under similar sentiment, another added: “We’re ending with Palhinha, Gray, Bentancur, Gray as the pivot option for DE ZERBI aren’t we?”
“Some Spurs fans don’t want Hackney but want a 31-year-old midfielder for £30m who doesn’t suit RDZ style of football,” said a third Spurs supporter.
However, not everyone is opposed. One Tottenham fan even said: “You’re goddamn right! Get this deal done ENIC, and give him the armband!”
Other responses included: “Yessssss! Get him signed permanently.”
“We want players who want us. Big man saved us.”
“The man saved us. De Zerbi wants him. We want him. He wants us. Get it done.”
“I thought it was over, sign this gem permanently immediately!”
Spurs midfield plans raise questions over Joao Palhinha decision
Roberto De Zerbi has repeatedly said that he wants Palhinha to be signed by Tottenham following the Portuguese midfielder’s strong season, which gives the board the perfect chance to back their manager nice and early.
For those looking for a more creative option to add to Palhinha, Spurs Web have reported renewed interest in Hayden Hackney.
The Middlesbrough man is back on Spurs’ radar after a failed attempt to sign him last summer, but competition is strong with Manchester United and Crystal Palace also in the mix.
Hackney is expected to be available for around £25m, a similar fee to Palhinha, while being seven years younger at 23.
