Tottenham Hotspur fans will be breathing a sigh of relief at the latest update from Croatia regarding Luka Vuskovic’s knee injury.

The Tottenham centre-back has missed Hamburg’s last two games with a knee injury, and his side have lost both encounters against Stuttgart and Werder Bremen.

Concerningly, reports from Germany over recent days have claimed that Vuskovic’s knee joint is more severely damaged than initially suspected and that the centre-back is not expected to feature against Hoffenheim on April 25th.

Meanwhile, the Tottenham medical team are in contact with Hamburg about Vuskovic’s rehabilitation, with Spurs expected to take the final call on when the defender will return.

Tottenham are just being cautious with Luka Vuskovic, no major concerns

A new report in Sportske Novosti has now played down any concerns about the 19-year-old’s knee.

The outlet claims that Vuskovic has only been diagnosed with a ‘slight ligament strain’ as a result of a knock he received in training.

Following dialogue between Tottenham Hotspur and Hamburg, it was agreed that it would be best to rest the centre-back for three or four matches before he returns for the final couple of matches of the campaign.

The outlet adds that the youngster would have likely had a break around this time anyway after a long and grueling season, given that he is expected to feature for Croatia at the World Cup.

Could Hamburg’s precarious position force an early Vuskovic return?

Sportske Novosti say that the plan is for the teenager to return for HSV’s penultimate match of the season against Freiburg on May 10.

However, the report points out that with only five points separating Hamburg from the relegation playoff spot and suggests that Vuskovic could return sooner if the club’s results do not turn around.

Contrary to what reports from Germany have claimed, the publication asserts that the Tottenham centre-back is currently not feeling any pain in his knee.
