Tottenham fans will love what Vinai Venkatesham achieved behind the scenes this summer

Some Tottenham fans may be nervous about Vinai Venkatesham taking the reins after Daniel Levy’s exit, but the CEO has already proven himself this summer.

For the first part of the summer transfer window, Romero was heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid.

However, Spurs managed to fend off the La Liga club’s advances, and Romero put pen to paper on a new four-year contract at Tottenham, shortly after being appointed as the club’s new captain.

One can argue that despite the impressive signings that Spurs made this summer, managing to tie down the Argentine to a new deal was their most impressive piece of business.

Daniel Levy’s relationship with Cristian Romero had broken down

However, it has now been claimed by The Telegraph’s Sam Wallace that it was not Daniel Levy who spearheaded talks to tie down the Tottenham captain to a new deal.

The journalist claims that Romero’s contract renewal was handled by the new Tottenham CEO, Vinai Venkatesham.

He says that it has been rumoured that the 27-year-old’s relationship with Levy, who left Spurs last week after nearly two and a half decades as chairman, had broken down.

Venkatesham will now have more responsibility on his shoulders after Levy’s departure, but Wallace points out that this is by no means his first time running a big club, having served as both managing director and CEO at Arsenal.

Fabio Paratici is now unlikely to return to Spurs

While Levy had some excellent accomplishments as Tottenham chairman, the majority of Spurs fans felt that it was time for a change and are now optimistic about what the future holds.

However, one thing that they will not be pleased to hear is that Fabio Paratici is now considering his options after Levy’s departure, with the Italian no longer certain to return to Spurs.

In fact, journalist Graeme Bailey has even asserted that Paratici is now unlikely to return to Tottenham in an official role and may prefer joining another club.
