Cristian Romero’s future at Tottenham Hotspur continues to be the subject of much speculation as the centre-back attempts to guide Argentina to a second consecutive World Cup title.
It has been widely reported over the past few months that Spurs have decided to cash in on their captain, and that has only been made even more likely by the Lilywhites’ transfer business so far this summer.
Tottenham have added Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke to the heart of their defence, and Roberto De Zerbi will hope the pair hit the ground running, given their vast Premier League experience.
However, SportsBoom claimed around two weeks ago that Romero had done a U-turn on his Spurs future, having decided that he wants to be part of the new project underway at the club.

Tottenham’s stance on Cristian Romero’s future has not changed
Football Insider have claimed that Romero remains likely to leave Tottenham this summer, with the North London club having not changed their stance on the 28-year-old.
In fact, the Lilywhites are planning for life after the Argentine, and they view this summer as the ideal time to cash in on the experienced defender.
The report says that Spurs view the World Cup as a shop window for Romero, who overcame his injury to deliver a strong showing in the Albiceleste’s 3-2 win over Cape Verde.
It is revealed that the Tottenham man is continuing to attract interest from Atletico Madrid while other top European clubs are also tracking him.
Barcelona are not expected to sign Romero
Earlier in the summer, it was reported that Barcelona were contemplating a move for the Tottenham captain, as they looked to add a leader to their backline.
However, Sport claimed a couple of days ago that Barca had withdrawn their interest in Romero, as Hansi Flick had decided against adding a centre-back to his squad this summer.
The update suggested that the Catalan club’s decision to take a step back could open the door for Atletico to complete a deal, with Diego Simeone’s side ‘pushing hard’ for the Spurs man.
