Tottenham Hotspur’s stance on Destiny Udogie has been made clear amidst growing interest from Man City, who are keen to lure the full-back to the Etihad this summer.
It’s definitely shaping up to be a busy summer window for Tottenham Hotspur.
While the club will be doing their utmost to bring in reinforcements to strengthen Ange Postecoglou’s side, they’ll also be working hard behind the scenes to keep their top talent at Hotspur Way.
One name that’s cropped up amid potential exits is Destiny Udogie, who’s now reportedly caught the eye of reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.
The Manchester club are said to be big admirers of the full-back and are interested in a move, largely due to his versatility, which allows him to feature on either flank—something Pep Guardiola values highly in his squad.

Tottenham set to reject Man City move for Destiny Udogie this summer
It’s been suggested that while City may attempt to prise Udogie away from north London, any negotiations with chairman Daniel Levy are likely to be far from straightforward.
Now, according to the Mirror, Spurs have made their stance on the matter quite clear—they have no intention of parting ways with the 22-year-old this summer.
That decision stems not just from the club’s high valuation of Udogie, but also from the fact that this season, although hit by injuries, Udogie has shown glimpses of his importance to the system Postecoglou is building.
The full-back still has four years left on his contract, and with Levy known for driving a hard bargain, any potential deal would be extremely difficult to pull off. In short, a move this summer looks very unlikely.
Spurs fans divided on Udogie’s value compared to Djed Spence
Amongst the Spurs fanbase, there seems to be a mix of opinions regarding Udogie’s future. For sure, some are open to a sale and have even floated fees ranging from £60 million to £100 million as the kind of sum they’d consider acceptable.
A lot of that sentiment seems to stem from the rise of Djed Spence, who some supporters believe offers more than Udogie.
Still, Udogie himself has spoken highly of Spence, highlighting the healthy competition and their strong relationship.
“I think Djed is an incredible player, we’re really close friends, we speak a lot, and we try to help each other in games,” Udogie said. “Since he’s come in, he’s having a top season and helping the team a lot. We speak every day and try to teach each other new things—it’s a great relationship.”
Of course, it is very vital that Tottenham do their very best to keep both full-backs at Hotspur Way, as they are players for the long term.
