Tottenham Hotspur set to revive iconic colour from the 80s for 2027/28 season

Fresh kit leaks suggest Tottenham Hotspur could turn back the clock next season, with a familiar colour from one of the club’s most recognisable eras set for a long-awaited return.

Spurs Web has brought readers early Tottenham kit leaks in previous seasons, and we had also already revealed details of the club’s 2027/28 shirts last month.

The away shirt will reportedly feature a predominantly black base, with Platinum Violet and Jersey Gold used for the detailing. More notably, Tottenham are also set to replace their usual cockerel badge with the iconic interlocking THFC monogram.

That would already represent a new colour combination for Spurs, with the Platinum Violet and Jersey Gold combination not previously seen together on a Tottenham shirt.

Now, however, fresh information surrounding next season’s kits suggests the club could also be bringing back one of its most iconic colours.

Tottenham Hotspur set to bring back light blue

Footy Headlines have once again provided early information on Tottenham’s upcoming kits, and their latest report claims that light blue will return to the club’s collection for the 2027/28 season.

Nike officially designates the light blue shade as ‘Chlorine Blue’, while ‘Binary Blue’, a navy shade, and white will be used for the detailing. ‘Binary Blue’ will also feature on Tottenham’s home shirt for the 2027/28 season.

While the earlier leaks pointed to a black away shirt, Footy Headlines have clarified that they cannot yet confirm whether this light blue design will ultimately be Tottenham’s away or third kit.

It could therefore be that one of these designs becomes the away shirt and the other the third kit.

Light blue has featured on several memorable Tottenham kits over the years, including continuously from 1983 to 1988, before returning in 2001/02, 2006/07, 2013/14, 2019/20 and most recently on the 2024/25 away shirt.

No more red on Spurs shirts next season

There will be another notable change to Tottenham’s shirts after the 2026/27 campaign, and this is one that supporters have been waiting to see for some time.

AIA’s sponsorship of the Spurs match shirts is due to come to an end after more than a decade, meaning the familiar red lettering that has appeared across Tottenham’s classic white shirts since 2013 will disappear from the playing kit.

The partnership will not end entirely, however. From the 2027/28 season, AIA will instead become Tottenham’s Global Training Partner, with its branding moving across to the club’s training wear and coaches’ apparel.

Hopefully, whoever replaces AIA on the front of the jersey will fit the shirt much better visually.
