Tottenham Hotspur have discovered who they will be facing in the second round of the 2026/27 Carabao Cup.

Spurs are among the 11 Premier League teams who will enter the Carabao Cup in the second round, having failed to qualify for Europe last season.

Roberto De Zerbi’s men kick off their new season with a clash against Brentford on Saturday, following which they will kickstart their Carabao Cup campaign.

The Lilywhites have now discovered who they will come up against next week, and they have a fairly comfortable test to start, at least on paper considering that Chelsea were still in the pot with four teams left to be drawn.

Tottenham play Charlton Athletic in second round of the Carabao Cup

Tottenham have been drawn against Charlton Athletic at home in the southern section of the draw.

Second round ties will be played during the week commencing August 24.

They will be looking to do better in the competition than in the 2025/26 iteration, when a strong XI under Thomas Frank saw Tottenham lose 2-0 at Newcastle United in the fourth round.

Spurs should set their sights on winning the Carabao Cup

With no European football to focus on this season, Tottenham have an opportunity to play strong teams in the domestic cup competitions.

The Carabao Cup is undoubtedly the easiest of the two competitions to win, with Spurs having last lifted the trophy back in 2008, which was the fourth time they won the competition.

De Zerbi has made it clear that Tottenham have big ambitions, and lifting silverware in his first full season in charge will undoubtedly give the project a huge boost.
