After months of negotiations, Tottenham finally appear to be making some progress in their pursuit of Savinho.
It is fair to say that Spurs fans have become tired of the Savinho speculation which has been ongoing since the start of the summer, but it appears that the deal is finally moving in the right direction.
Earlier this week, The Athletic reported that Roberto De Zerbi’s side are confident that the Man City man will be a Tottenham player before the end of the transfer window.
Subsequently, an update from Brazil claimed that Spurs are confident of sealing a deal for Savinho over the coming days, and this has now been backed up by another source.
Tottenham are in a hurry to complete Savinho deal
Journalist Bruno Andrade has now said on ESPN Brazil’s YouTube channel (as relayed by Sport Witness) that the expectation is that City and Spurs will get a deal for Savinho done soon.
He says Tottenham are now ‘in a hurry’ to secure an agreement and have no intention of dragging the negotiations on until the dying stages of the window.
Andrade claims Spurs are prepared to reach the figures that City want for Savinho, claiming that the deal would ‘comfortably’ exceed £70m.
Even though the 22-year-old has performed well for Enzo Maresca’s side during pre-season, he has informed his employers that he has no intention of continuing at the club.
The journalist adds that the situation is set to be ‘unlocked very soon’ as City work on bringing a replacement through the door.
Man City struggling to sign their preferred Savinho replacement
While these updates sound promising, it has also been reported over recent days that City are not finding it easy to land the player they want to replace the Brazilian.
City have identified Pedro Neto as a potential replacement for Savinho, but a deal for the Portuguese star is proving anything but straightforward.
According to some sources, Chelsea want a fee in the region of £70m-£75m for Neto, and Maresca’s men are facing major competition in the race for the former Wolves man.
