Big developments over the future of a Chelsea star directly affect Tottenham’s pursuit of Savinho amid their stalled negotiations with Manchester City.
Spurs Web previously relayed news that Spurs have been left frustrated with Man City over the Savinho negotiations, with some at the North London club feeling that the Manchester club have shifted the goalposts following initial talks.
Tottenham have even threatened to abandon their Savinho negotiations altogether and move on to other alternatives.
In the meantime, the Brazilian has been putting pressure on Man City to strike a deal with the Lilywhites, and a new update has suggested that a deal may finally move forward.
Boost for Tottenham as Man City make direct contact with Savinho replacement
Several publications have said over the last couple of weeks that Man City want to sign a replacement first before finalising Savinho’s sale to Spurs.
Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the Manchester club have identified Chelsea star Pedro Neto as a possible replacement for the 22-year-old, and have made contact with the Portuguese star.
Interestingly, he revealed that the former Wolves man is also one of the names on Spurs’ winger wishlist.
Romano wrote on X: “Manchester City make direct contact with Pedro Neto’s camp as talks start over possible move. Neto among MCFC target if Savinho goes to Spurs while he’s also understood to be on Tottenham list as backup option. Deal also depends on Chelsea valuation.”
Spurs identify Neto as a Savinho backup
Clarifying the matter further, the Italian journalist explained that Savinho remains the priority winger target for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
He asserted that they may turn their attentions towards Neto if a deal for the former Girona man does not progress.
Romano added in a subsequent X post: “More on Pedro Neto and Savinho. Tottenham would consider Pedro Neto if Savinho deal won’t happen — but Savinho remains the top priority. Man City in contact with Pedro’s agents, no bid sent to Chelsea or official club to club talks yet.
