Tottenham in the race for £42m-rated Brazilian talent with 20 goals in 52 games

Tottenham Hotspur are keeping an eye on the transfer market, but they could face stiff competition from Manchester United and Chelsea for one of Brazil’s brightest attacking prospects.

Thomas Frank would be hoping his Tottenham Hotspur side can find some attacking rhythm in the next few weeks.

Spurs have had to rely on goals from Micky van de Ven at times, with the Dutchman the club’s leading goal scorer with six goals.

Tottenham forwards have been subpar, with Richarlison, Mathys Tel, and Randal Kolo Muani not contributing with enough goals – the trio has a combined six goals between them.

Tottenham join Man United and Chelsea in Vitor Roque race

Thomas Frank could turn to the January transfer market to strengthen his forward line, with Tottenham linked to a number of strikers, including Harry Kane.

It remains to be seen if the former Spurs man would make a return, but Football Insider have now claimed that a young Brazilian forward is on Tottenham’s radar.

According to the publication, Vitor Roque is a forward who has been attracting attention from across the Premier League.

The 20-year-old has scored 20 goals in 52 appearances for Palmeiras, and Spurs are rumoured to be keeping tabs on him.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast about Spurs and other Premier League clubs’ interest in Roque, journalist Pete O’Rourke said that while the Brazilian struggled to settle at Barcelona, his return to form in Brazil has reignited attention from top clubs.

He explained: “It is an interesting one. Obviously, Roque, when he joined Barcelona from Athletico in Brazil, there was a lot of hype about him, but he really struggled to make an impact for the Catalan giants.

“Then he obviously moved back to Brazil with Palmeiras in February of this year and to be fair to him, the player has rediscovered his best form.

“I think Vitor Roque might be one that might be more in the summer that some clubs might look at. You have also got reported interest from Chelsea and Tottenham in Vitor Roque as well.

“So I think it would be more than just Manchester United who will be interested in him if he does continue his fine form for Palmeiras.”

It has been reported that Palmeiras would only accept a bid of at least £42m for Vitor Roque, amid interest from Tottenham and Chelsea.

Spurs face key decisions on Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani

January could be crucial for Tottenham in the forward line, especially if their current crop of forwards fail to find form.

Spurs are stacked in attack, but it is more quantity than quality. A few decisions would have to be made on the futures of Richarlison and Kolo Muani.

Muani is on loan, and if he fails to impress, then Tottenham might not sign him permanently. Richarlison has not taken his chances in the absence of Dominic Solanke and could be sold.

Tottenham are also firmly in the race to sign Dusan Vlahovic, whom David Trezeguet believes is better than Harry Kane, either on a pre-contract or a modest fee, depending on what move they make.
