Roberto De Zerbi may be handed a huge injury boost ahead of his first home game in charge of Tottenham Hotspur.

De Zerbi’s spell in North London has not started as smoothly as he would have hoped, not only because of the defeat in his opening game.

Spurs were hit with the bad news that Mohammed Kudus’ season could be over after the winger suffered a setback during the final stages of his rehabilitation from his hamstring problem.

Additionally, Cristian Romero could also miss the rest of the season for Tottenham after being forced off with a knee injury during the second-half at the Stadium of Light, but De Zerbi has now received some good news ahead of the showdown with his former club.

Rodrigo Bentancur returns to Tottenham training ahead of Brighton clash

Sky Sports News have now provided an update from Hotspur Way, confirming that, barring Romero, every Spurs player came through the Sunderland game unscathed.

Additionally, they revealed that Rodrigo Bentancur has now rejoined training at Tottenham after being sidelined for more than three months with a hamstring injury.

It is revealed that the Uruguayan could be fit to play a part against the Seagulls this Saturday in De Zerbi’s first home game in charge.

James Maddison was also seen taking part in the rondos with his Tottenham teammates in training, but the report makes it clear that the attacking midfielder is not expected to be in a matchday squad anytime soon.

Spurs have planned special treatment for Cristian Romero

According to reports, Romero is expected to spend five to eight weeks on the sidelines after scans showed ligament damage, and footage shows that the Tottenham man’s knee is heavily bandaged.

Argentina assistant coach Roberto Ayala revealed on Tuesday that Spurs are going to give the centre-back a platelet-rich plasma treatment before seeing how he responds to that.

However, with the defender having one eye on Argentina’s World Cup defence in the summer, he may be hesitant to risk a reinjury by returning to the pitch before shecule.
