Tottenham Hotspur are once again being linked with a move for Morgan Gibbs-White after their failed attempt to sign the Nottingham Forest star last summer.
Tottenham Hotspur know that if they are to improve on back-to-back 17th-place finishes in the Premier League, they must strengthen their squad considerably.
Adding goals to their ranks will certainly help next season, given how little Spurs scored during the 2025-26 campaign, where they managed just 48 goals in the English top flight.
The midfielders simply did not contribute enough in front of goal, with Richarlison ending the season as the club’s highest Premier League scorer on 11 goals.
For context, during the previous campaign, Tottenham saw several stars – including Heung-min Son, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke – all hit double figures in all competitions.

Tottenham are still keen on Morgan Gibbs-White
Miguel Delaney is now reporting in his Inside Football newsletter for the Independent that Tottenham are once again keen on Morgan Gibbs-White, who managed 15 goals last season.
It is understood that interest in Gibbs-White is set to be revived ahead of the summer window following Spurs’ failed pursuit of the midfielder last year.
The Lilywhites came close to securing the services of the Nottingham Forest man by triggering his release clause, only for Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis to step in and halt the move.
Forest sent a threat of legal action to former Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and considered a complaint to the Premier League after Spurs’ failed bid to sign Morgan Gibbs-White.
Gibbs-White eventually put pen to paper on a new deal at the City Ground, before once again showing his quality last season as he helped drag Forest away from a relegation battle.
Writing in his newsletter, Delaney said: “Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, are currently seen as strong favourites for Marcos Senesi. There is also revived interest in Morgan Gibbs-White. You would have to wonder about Evangelos Marinakis’s reaction to that.”
Spurs face difficult Morgan Gibbs-White negotiations
It will certainly be difficult for Tottenham to do business with Nottingham Forest after last summer’s incident, which makes this latest report particularly interesting.
Spurs were said to have activated a secret £60m release clause last summer, but with Gibbs-White since signing a new contract, it is very likely that figure has now increased further.
Regardless, there is no denying the quality the England international would bring to the Tottenham squad, particularly for a side desperately lacking goals from midfield areas.
