Tottenham face stiff competition as they enter the race for a centre‑back capable of also playing right‑back ahead of the winter window.

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer business saw them bolster their defensive ranks with four new additions coming through the door.

Marcos Senesi (free), Jan Paul van Hecke (£52 million), Andy Robertson (free), and Tosin Adarabioyo (£12 million) make up the Lilywhites’ defensive additions.

However, a natural right‑back was not signed despite Spurs selling Djed Spence last summer, although Roberto De Zerbi has since stated that Archie Gray is seen as a full‑back.

Aston Villa, Tottenham and Newcastle United can pay ‘significant sums’ for defender Pierre Kalulu

But that has not prevented reports from linking Tottenham with a centre‑back capable of playing full‑back. According to TuttoJuve’s Mirko Di Natale, Spurs are understood to be one of three Premier League clubs interested in Juventus’ Pierre Kalulu.

The centre‑back, who has started at right-back in all three of Juventus’ games this season, has been linked with a move to England in the past, but no transfer came to fruition.

However, with interest coming from Spurs, Aston Villa and Newcastle United, the defender’s future is now described as unclear.

But if Tottenham are to sign Kalulu, they would have to pay “significant sums”.

PSG also interested as Juventus push to extend Kalulu’s contract

The three English sides are not the only ones showing interest in Kalulu. Paris Saint‑Germain have also been credited with interest.

It is understood that the French giants could make a return for the Juventus man as well, and they too would have to pay those significant sums.

However, while Kalulu’s future is unclear, the defender also has a desire to win the Scudetto.

Juventus are well aware of the latest interest and are working on extending the contract of the versatile defender, whose deal is set to expire in 2029, with meetings already scheduled with his entourage.
