Guglielmo Vicario has opened up on what Ange Postecoglou said to him two years ago that immediately convinced him to make the move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Vicario was a relative unknown to Premier League fans when he arrived at the club in 2023, with the Italian coming off a couple of impressive seasons at Empoli.
Overall, the 28-year-old has proven to be an excellent shot-stopper for the Lilywhites, although pundits are continuing to question Vicario’s handling of set-pieces.
The Italian has also been added to Tottenham’s leadership group, and Postecoglou has spoken highly of Vicario’s influence in the Spurs dressing room.

According to reports, Spurs saw off competition from Juventus and Inter Milan to land Vicario in 2023.
The Italy international has now explained that he was convinced about moving to N17 as soon as he spoke to Postecoglou, revealing that he was impressed by just how much the Australian knew about him.
The Tottenham number one told Optus Sport about his conversation with Ange Postecoglou: “He called me before signing and he knew everything about me so this was a big deal for me.
“When your manager calls you and knows exactly which aspects of your game that you can impact, I thought ‘Wow, this is a very good start’. It was a very good speech between us and very quickly my decision was made. I didn’t have to think about it.”

It has been widely reported that Postecoglou is expected to be sacked by Spurs even if they win the Europa League.
While the Australian manager’s days at N17 might be numbered, Vicario has insisted that he will never forget Postecoglou for his entire life, no matter what happens.
The 28-year-old described the Spurs head coach as a “fantastic human being” and admitted that he has taught a lot to the Tottenham players about how to live life.
