Tottenham Hotspur are ready to land a defining blow to Man United in the race for West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes.

Tottenham have stepped up their pursuit of Fernandes over the last couple of days as they look to send a statement of their ambition by completing a big-money deal for the midfielder.

According to some sources, Man United believe they are still the favourites to land the 21-year-old despite the intense competition from the North Londoners.

However, this could be about to change very soon as the Lilywhites attempt to strike a full agreement with West Ham over the midfielder.

Tottenham confident of sealing agreement with West Ham after latest Mateus Fernandes offer

TEAMtalk now claim that Spurs are accelerating their push to land the Portugal international and are now confident about sealing a full agreement for the player.

The report claims that ‘time is no longer on Man United’s side’ as Tottenham’s move for Fernandes is ‘advancing rapidly’.

The Lilywhites are now in advanced discussions with their London rivals over a club record deal for the midfielder, who is keen to complete a move to North London.

In fact, it is asserted that Fernandes has given Tottenham ‘his full green light’ to press forward, with the former Southampton man having accepted the personal terms Roberto De Zerbi’s men have offered.

How much are Spurs expected to pay for Fernandes?

TEAMtalk say that West Ham are seeking a package of £85m for their midfield starlet, and Spurs have presented a package of £65m up front, with the remaining £20m in add-ons and bonuses.

The report reveals that Man United have not shown as much willingness to meet the Hammers’ asking price for Fernandes as the Lilywhites have.

Additionally, the outlet backs up what other sources have reported on the matter over recent days, revealing that Tottenham are also offering the player substantially higher wages than the Red Devils.
