Tottenham Hotspur’s aggressive pursuit of Mateus Fernandes is causing major problems for Man United as well as other clubs across the Premier League.
Spurs are seemingly flexing their financial muscle after coming so close to relegation last season.
After having bolstered their defence by securing Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson already, the Lilywhites are now stepping up their efforts to land Fernandes in a big-money deal.
Tottenham have held talks with the West Ham star’s agent over the last few days as they look to steal a march on Man United in the transfer race.

Tottenham’s spending has surprised Man United and other Premier League clubs
The Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan has now revealed on The United Stand that the Lilywhites are being ‘surprisingly aggressive’ in their spending this summer.
Tottenham’s big spending has not just surprised United, but also many clubs across the division.
In fact, he explains that the Lilywhites are already at the higher end of what the Red Devils are willing to pay for Fernandes.
While there is still a belief at Old Trafford that the 21-year-old wants to link up with Michael Carrick’s side, Keegan concludes that whoever offers more money to the player could win the race.
Another Premier League giant is also keen on Fernandes
It is not just competition from United that Spurs have to worry about in the race for the West Ham man, with another Premier League giant set to enter the race.
According to a recent update from Football Insider, Liverpool could attempt to hijack Tottenham’s move for Fernandes, as the Reds explore whether a move for the Portugal international would be feasible.
However, some sources have suggested that Fernandes is loving life in London, which may give Spurs an advantage over other suitors.
