Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make an ambitious move to beat one of the biggest clubs in Europe to a Manchester United forward.

It has been widely reported that Spurs are ready to undertake an ambitious rebuild of the squad this summer if they stay in the Premier League.

Roberto De Zerbi has been handed plenty of power to shape the Tottenham squad ahead of his first full season in charge in North London.

It has now emerged that the Lilywhites are ready to reinforce their forward line by making an experienced wide-forward, who has scored 13 goals and provided 13 assists across all competitions this season.

Tottenham could take advantage of Barcelona’s indecision to sign Marcus Rashford

According to Sport, Spurs are showing an interest in securing the services of Marcus Rashford if they remain in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has thrived on loan at Camp Nou this summer, but his future remains up in the air ahead of the summer window.

Barcelona have an option to sign Rashford permanently for £26m from Old Trafford this summer, but the Catalan club’s hierarchy has not yet decided if they will activate it.

Spurs’ interest in the England international is described as ‘genuine’, with the Premier League side looking to take advantage of the La Liga club’s indecision to push through a deal for the forward.

Why Spurs may struggle to secure the services of Rashford

The 28-year-old’s current deal is worth £300,000-a-week, and if he demands that Tottenham match that salary, he would become far and away the highest-paid player in Spurs’ books.

While reports indicate that Tottenham are ready to remove their self-imposed wage cap this summer, it remains to be seen if they would be able to reach an agreement with Rashford.

Additionally, Spurs will not have any European football next season, and may thus not find it easy to convince the Man United man that he can fulfil his ambitions at N17.
