Tottenham Hotspur are now ready to flex their financial muscle as they step up their pursuit of West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

Having reinforced their backline through the additions of Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, the Lilywhites are now seemingly focused on strengthening their midfield.

Spurs have had a club record £75m offer turned down for Tonali, and reports indicate that the Lilywhites are now ready to return with an improved offer for the Newcastle man.

The Italian is not the only Premier League star on Tottenham’s radar, with Roberto De Zebri’s men also pushing to land Mateus Fernandes.

Tottenham readying huge offer for West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes

Over recent days, several journalists have said that Spurs have been locked in talks with the Hammers star, who is also on the radars of Real Madrid and Manchester United.

It appears that the Lilywhites are now ready to substantiate their interest with an offer for Fernandes in an effort to get ahead of the competition.

This is according to journalist Nicolo Schira, who took to social media to reveal that Spurs are ready to launch a €70m (£60.4m) offer for the midfielder.

Schira wrote on X: “Tottenham are ready to offer 70M to West Ham to try to sign Matheus Fernandes, who is still a target of Manchester United and Real Madrid. Race ongoing.”

West Ham want a mammoth fee for Fernandes

Spurs’ initial offer is expected to fall short of West Ham’s valuation of the Portuguese star if reports over the last few days are to be believed.

It has been suggested that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men want £80m for Fernandes despite their relegation from the Premier League.

However, according to a recent update from TEAMtalk, Spurs are growing increasingly confident of winning the race for the Hammers star despite the midfielder’s steep valuation.
