Tottenham have reignited their interest in a French attacking midfielder, who has been on their radar for over 12 months.

Spurs started the window with additions to their backline and are now seemingly moving on to reinforcing their midfield.

Reports indicate that Roberto De Zerbi also wants to make multiple additions to Tottenham’s attack ahead of his first full season in charge.

The Lilywhites are now set to turn to a World Cup star, who has been on their recruitment department’s radar for a long time.

Tottenham reignite interest in Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche

Tottenham explored a move for Maghnes Akliouche during last summer’s transfer window, and the Lilywhites failed with a move for the Monaco man again in January.

According to Football Insider, Spurs have reignited their interest in the 24-year-old, who is expected to leave Monaco this summer.

Akliouche enjoyed a fabulous 2025-26 season, scoring seven goals and providing 10 assists across all competitions, with his displays earning him a place in the France squad for the World Cup.

The report says that with De Zerbi keen to add depth and quality to his attack, the North London club are being kept informed of the Frenchman’s situation.

Spurs are not the front-runners to land Akliouche

Football Insider make it clear that, as things stand, it is Paris Saint-Germain, not Tottenham, who are leading the race for the Monaco man.

Foot Mercato (as relayed by TEAMtalk) take it a step further and suggest that PSG are one step away from landing Akliouche, who has already agreed a deal to move to the French capital.

The outlet says that Akliouche will cost around €60m (£52m), but a bidding war could potentially push the fee up to around €70m (£61m). It is thus clear that Spurs have plenty of work to do to win the race for the attacking midfielder.
