The Premier League may now be a dead rubber for Tottenham Hotspur, but with the Europa League dream still alive, we want to see Ange Postecoglou field a completely rotated side against Wolves this weekend. Here’s the completely rotated XI we would want to see this Sunday.
There is no Tottenham fan on the planet who isn’t rooting for the Lilywhites to go all the way in the Europa League this season.
If there was any doubt before the first-leg clash against Eintracht Frankfurt, it was quickly quashed by the performance the players put in—most supporters are now optimistic that the job can be finished in Germany next week.
Of course, despite all of Tottenham’s chances and dominance, they failed to find the finishing touch, meaning the Lilywhites head to Germany with the tie finely balanced at 1-1.

Tottenham’s Premier League campaign is all but done
While there’s a bit of hope amongst fans about doing something special in Europe, the same can’t be said about the Premier League.
Tottenham fans need no reminding of where the club currently sits—14th in the table after losing 16 of their 31 games, with 11 wins in that run.
Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
12 | 31 | 12 | 6 | 13 | 51 | 47 | 4 | 42 | |
13 | 31 | 10 | 8 | 13 | 37 | 41 | -4 | 38 | |
14 | 31 | 11 | 4 | 16 | 58 | 45 | 13 | 37 | |
15 | 31 | 7 | 14 | 10 | 33 | 38 | -5 | 35 | |
16 | 31 | 9 | 8 | 14 | 35 | 52 | -17 | 35 |
Sure, one could argue there’s been a bit of misfortune along the way, especially when some of the underlying metrics show Spurs should be higher; after all, their goal difference is that of a top-six side, which is rare for a team that low in the standings—but the reality is clear: the league campaign is done.
That only reinforces the need to go all-in on Europe. Spurs have to save their best for the Europa League, no two ways about it.
We expected that kind of thinking ahead of the first leg on Thursday, but Postecoglou still fielded a strong XI in the league against Southampton.
With a proper test awaiting in Germany, and extra time a real possibility, it’s fair to say the fans want Tottenham’s best players wrapped in bubble wrap before Thursday.
The Spurs XI we would love to see vs Wolves with 11 changes
Against Wolves on Sunday, here’s the Tottenham starting XI we’d love to see Ange Postecoglou roll out in the Premier League.
In goal, Antonin Kinsky—it’s been a while since the youngster got minutes for Spurs.
At left-back, Sergio Reguilon could be handed a start—potentially his last appearance for the club before moving on for good.
At centre-back, Ben Davies should come in for Cristian Romero, who’s racked up a lot of minutes since coming back from injury.
His partner? Archie Gray. He knows the role well and has slotted in there before this season. Over at right-back, Djed Spence—he missed out in the first leg and with Destiny Udogie back fit, we expect the full-back to keep his place on the right.
In midfield, Yves Bissouma should return to the pivot. Hopefully, this run-out gives him a bit of a boost.
Alongside him, Pape Matar Sarr—for a bit of balance and to make sure Spurs aren’t overrun in the middle.
In the ten, Mikey Moore. Not his natural position, but worth seeing how he gets on there. Ange Postecoglou hasn’t given him minutes in a while.
The front three? On the left, Mathys Tel—he looked lively when he came off the bench in the Europa League first leg.
Down the middle, Richarlison—back from injury and in need of minutes. And on the right, Wilson Odobert.
Our final Tottenham XI against Wolves in the Premier League: Antonin Kinsky; Sergio Reguilon, Ben Davies, Archie Gray, Djed Spence; Yves Bissouma, Pape Sarr, Mikey Moore; Mathys Tel, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert
