Tottenham Hotspur have now been linked with an exciting winger who is just as quick as Micky van de Ven as they continue their summer rebuild.
Tottenham Hotspur are now focused on improving the quality of their squad ahead of next season after an abysmal 25-26 campaign.
As it stands, Spurs are looking at the winger market, with the likes of Wilson Odobert, Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons all out injured.
The absence of these players limited Spurs’ creativity in the final third last season, contributing to their struggles in front of goal. It is no surprise that Tottenham finished the campaign with 48 goals, with only eight teams recording fewer.

Tottenham eye Jean-Matteo Bahoya transfer
Several of these injuries occurred during the second half of the campaign and had a significant impact on the squad.
While Tottenham had the opportunity to strengthen in the winter window, they opted against doing so, a decision that nearly backfired and cost Spurs their Premier League status. Spurs are now looking to make amends and are targeting further attacking additions.
According to Fichajes, Tottenham have set their sights on lightning-fast Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya.
The 22-year-old reached a top speed of 37.1 km/h in the league this season, only marginally behind Micky van de Ven’s Premier League record of 37.38 km/h, set against Brentford in 2024.
The Frenchman registered eight goal involvements in all competitions for the German side, scoring four goals and providing four assists. It is understood that the Lilywhites may need to spend £60m (€70m) to complete the deal.
Spurs could view Jean-Matteo Bahoya as Savinho alternative
Spurs are also interested in Savinho, but they face stiff competition from Newcastle United for the attacker.
Bahoya could emerge as an alternative should Tottenham miss out on the Manchester City winger. When comparing the two players’ output, Bahoya edges ahead in terms of goal involvement.
While the Frenchman managed eight goal involvements in all competitions, Savinho recorded seven despite playing fewer minutes.
The two players are also similarly priced, with Spurs Web revealing that Savinho could be signed for as little as £60m (€69m) or potentially less.
| Player | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Goal involvements | Yellow cards | Minutes played |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jean-Matteo Bahoya | 37 | 4 | 4 | 8 | 2 | 1,646 |
| Savinho | 36 | 4 | 3 | 7 | 4 | 1,502 |
