Tottenham suffer blow in bid to sign Heung-min Son’s £19m South Korea teammate

Tottenham Hotspur have their sights set on a Champions League-winning midfielder, but the player’s club are refusing to entertain a January departure.

There was much talk about Tottenham Hotspur failing to sign players earlier in the mid-season transfer window, and not a lot has changed.

Spurs agreed deals to bring Conor Gallagher and Souza to the club, but there are still a wide range of needs in the Tottenham first-team squad to be addressed.

However, there are still a few days remaining before the window slams shut, meaning Thomas Frank could still welcome another player or two to his team this month.

Tottenham want to sign Kang-in Lee from PSG

According to Team Talk, Spurs have made an approach for PSG star Kang-in Lee, as they search for an attacker capable of playing both out wide and through the middle.

However, the club’s approach has been knocked back, with the Champions League winners clearly stating that Lee is not for sale.

PSG manager Luis Enrique is reportedly fond of the 24-year-old, despite his lack of game time this season, which has led to a rejected bid from Atletico Madrid as well.

Although there is still some hope for Tottenham, as Lee may reassess his situation in the summer, depending on whether he sees a long-term future available to him in France.

Spurs have been linked with Lee in previous years

This is not the first time Tottenham have been linked with the South Korea international. One report from two and a half years ago claimed Spurs were leading the race to sign Lee before his eventual move from Mallorca to PSG.

The highly sought-after player may have struggled for minutes if he had joined Tottenham back then, but now there is a very good chance he would walk into the first-team.

It looks like a January deal is off the cards, but perhaps Spurs will be able to secure Lee in the summer, three years after they originally made their interest known.
