Conor Gallagher was linked with a move to Aston Villa before joining Tottenham Hotspur and one of the club’s former players is now delighted the midfielder chose a move to North London.
Conor Gallagher is off to a slow start at Tottenham Hotspur, and his latest display in the North London derby has been heavily criticised.
In fairness, the midfielder has joined Spurs at a very difficult time, but the Premier League can be unforgiving, with players given an extremely short amount of time before they are assessed.
This has been the case of Gallagher, who has recently come under very harsh scrutiny from a player who spent most of his career at Aston Villa.

Gabriel Agbonlahor rips into Conor Gallagher
Ex-Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has a tendency to be fairly outspoken, and he has not held back when addressing Gallagher’s start to life at Tottenham.
Agbonlahor has taken to social media to share his views, and he has declared that Aston Villa ‘dodged a bullet’ by failing to sign the English international.
He posted: “What I will say is we dodged a bullet with Conor Gallagher, he looks like a poor man’s Brett Emerton! Shadow of his former self!”
Gallagher needs time to adapt at Tottenham
Abonlahor’s comments about Gallagher are not just critical; they are blatantly disrespectful. Yes, the 26-year-old has not been great for Spurs so far, but he is having to play in a broken midfield.
Gallagher’s game is not centred around making tough tackles, nor is it about creating moments of magic in attack. However, with all the shortcomings in the Tottenham first-team squad, this is what he is expected to do.
Had Randal Kolo Muani’s second goal against Arsenal counted, Gallagher would have had an assist and the dialogue surrounding him now might be a bit different. It is clear he needs to play better for Spurs, but writing off a player after six matches is rarely a good idea.
