Alan Shearer believes that the latest updates coming out of Tottenham Hotspur will affect their chances of staying in the Premier League.
Tottenham picked up their first win of the calendar year at Wolves on Saturday, with substitute Joao Palhinha’s 82nd-minute strike proving the difference between the sides.
However, the win was not enough to take Spurs out of the drop zone, with West Ham’s stoppage-time winner against Everton ensuring that the Hammers maintain their two-point lead over their London rivals.
Opta’s Supercomputer considers Tottenham big favourites to be relegated, with the Lilywhites appearing to be running out of games to secure their Premier League status.

Alan Shearer expects West Ham to stay up at Tottenham’s expense
Tottenham have lost Xavi Simons to an ACL injury, with the attacking midfielder not expected to return until 2027.
Shearer believes that Dutchman and Dominic Solanke’s injuries against Wolves may give Nuno Espirito Santo’s side the edge over the North Londoners in the race to avoid the drop.
The Newcastle legend said on the Rest is Football podcast: “I think West Ham might stay up. I still think, I mean, Tottenham had a couple of injuries as well yesterday, didn’t they? [Dominic] Solanke went off injured. [Xavi] Simons went off injured.”
Roberto De Zerbi remains confident of Spurs’ survival chances
Speaking after his side’s 1-0 win over Wolves, De Zerbi suggested that Solanke’s injury is not serious, with Tottenham fans still waiting for an official update from the club about the England international.
In his post-match press conference, De Zerbi insisted that he believes Spurs can stay up, given the quality they have at their disposal.
The Tottenham players have promised fans that they will keep fighting until the end, but with just four games to go, the Lilywhites need some big results over the coming weeks.
